U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, today announced funds for the Eastern Shore Trail Project. The funding will be used to design and construct the 2.3 mile Montrose portion of the Eastern Shore Trail. The award, totaling $1,486,961, will be released Monday by the Federal Highway Administration.
Senator Shelby secured this funding in the Fiscal Year 2002 Transportation Appropriations bill that was passed by Congress and signed into law.
Sen. Shelby said, “I am proud to announce these funds for the Eastern Shore Trail Project. This project will develop a 27 mile off-road, multi-use trail network stretching from the Battleship USS Alabama to the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.”’
