U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and General Government, announced today that the Mobile Airport Authority will receive $2.5 million from the Department of Transportation. These funds will be used for a number of projects at the Mobile Regional Airport including service road expansion, security enhancements, terminal building improvements, taxiway rehabilitation and paving and lighting improvements.

Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce these funds for the Mobile Airport Authority. It is an important priority for me that Alabama's airports are given the needed resources so they may remain safe and convenient for the passengers and pilots who use them.”

This funding, which was secured in the federal appropriations process, will be administered through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
