Appropriations Committee Approves Funding for the Auburn University Canine Detection Training Center
At Sen. Shelby's request, the Appropriations Committee approved $2.3 million for the Auburn University Canine Detection Training Center. The funding will allow Auburn University to develop a curriculum for the training of law enforcement dogs to combat and respond to terrorist activities specifically related to chemical and biological threats.
"Funding for this Center comes at a crucial time," said Shelby. "This money will allow Auburn University to help our nation prepare for what many view as one of the major threats to the United States."
The $2.3 million for Auburn University was included in the Fiscal Year 2003 Treasury and General Government Appropriations bill. Last year's bill included $1 million for the program.
