U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology will release $5,000,000 to Alabama State University for the construction of a new science facility.
“Investing in Alabama’s research universities is one of the smartest ways for our state to secure high-quality, non-exportable jobs and to secure the United States’ competitive edge in the global economy,” said Shelby. “The jobs of tomorrow require a great understanding of math and science today. The new science building at Alabama State University will provide facilities for Alabama’s students who will receive a first-class education space, and researchers who will gain technologically advanced research facilities.”
