SEN. SHELBY ANNOUNCES ALABAMA FUNDING

Conference Committee Approves Funding for Muscle Shoals Fertilizer Center

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) announced today that a conference committee has approved funding for the Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2002. Included in the bill is $2.3 million in funding, secured by Sen. Shelby, for the International Fertilizer Development Center located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Sen. Shelby said, "I am very pleased that the Conference Committee has once again recognized the merits of this funding request and agreed to provide $2.3 million to further the work of the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals. In addition to the important research conducted at this facility, the facility employs numerous Muscle Shoals-area residents."
