SHELBY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR MUSCLE SHOALS FERTILIZER CENTER

Senate Passes Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2004

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) announced full Senate approval today of $4 million in funding for the International Fertilizer Development Center located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding, which was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2004.

Sen. Shelby said, "I am very pleased that the Senate has once again recognized the merits of this funding request and agreed to provide $4 million to further the work of the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals. In addition to the important research conducted at this facility, the facility employs numerous Muscle Shoals-area residents."

These funds are subject to a .59% across-the-board recision as stated in the FY 2004 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
