SHELBY ANNOUNCES $84,600 FOR GREEN’S CROSSROAD VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Green’s Crossroad Volunteer Fire Department will receive $84,600 in federal funds to assist them with the purchase of firefighting vehicles. The funds are available for a variety of vehicles including trucks, ambulances, aerials and fireboats.

These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.

“I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security is following through on its commitment to our first responders, and I am hopeful that this grant will enable the Green’s Crossroad Volunteer Fire Department to better prepare for local emergencies should they occur,” Sen. Shelby said.
