Washington, D.C. – Monday, June 13, 2016 - U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that Griffin Peek, son of Ricky and Barbie Peek of Huntsville, Alabama, completed an internship in the Senator’ s Washington office this summer.
While in Washington, Griffin completed legislative research, conducted tour of the U.S. Capitol building, and attended hearings on various important issues.
“The Congressional Internship Program provides students with a truly unique opportunity,” said Senator Shelby. “The experience gained from first-hand involvement in our nation’s legislative process provides valuable insight into countless topics of study found in the classroom. I am certain that each of these students will go on to achieve great things.”
Griffin is a rising sophomore at the University of Alabama where he is studying Business. While in college, he has exhibited interest in the University of Alabama’s Student Government Association.
Senator Shelby’s Congressional Internship Program is open to college students who exhibit an interest in government and public service.
