SHELBY ANNOUNCES $400,000 FOR JASPER DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the City of Jasper will receive $400,000 for the their downtown revitalization project. Senator Shelby, Chairman of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, secured this funding in the Omnibus Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2003.

The project is designed to revitalize the downtown area of Jasper. In light of the Corridor X construction, Jasper’s businesses are under renovation and under construction. This funding will provide a new outdoor lighting system, improve sidewalks, and add landscaping and benches.

“I’m pleased to announce these funds for the City of Jasper. They expect new economic growth and additional due to the construction of Corridor X, and this funding will assist them in their efforts to prepare for their growing community,” Senator Shelby said.
