WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that applications are available for United States Service Academy nominations. The five service academies are the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Nominations are required for all but the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
“I hope that many young people in Alabama will consider applying to our nation’s service academies to further their education,” said Shelby. “The service academies provide outstanding educational opportunities while instilling the virtues of leadership, strength in character, and service to our nation.”
Service academy nominees must be residents of Alabama and must complete the required ACT or SAT exam. Applicants are also required to provide a completed application form, letters of recommendation, and their school transcript.
