SHELBY ANNOUNCES $1,242,600 FOR RAILROAD CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS IN MOBILE

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala), Chairman of the Transportation, Treasury, and General Government Appropriations subcommittee, announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation will release $1,242,600 to the Alabama Department of Transportation in Montgomery for railroad crossing improvements in Mobile.

Specifically, these funds will help to design and support the construction of a 4-lane grade separation near the intersection of US 90 and Hamilton Boulevard. This is the sixth grant to support Alabama’s coordinated program to upgrade 91 crossings in the high-speed corridor between Mobile and the Mississippi.

Sen. Shelby said “I am pleased that these improvements will be made to increase the safety of our railroad crossings. It is imperative we continue to make our transportation systems safer and this funding goes directly towards improving areas where railroads cross over busy arteries.”
