SHELBY ANNOUNCES $350,000 FOR ENFORCEMENT OF UNDERAGE DRINKING LAWS

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will receive $350,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice. These funds will be used for the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program.

The goal of this program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by those under the age of twenty-one.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce that Alabama will receive these funds to enforce underage drinking laws. We must do everything we can to teach our children about the dangers of underage drinking, and these funds will help combat this problem.
