SHELBY ANNOUNCES SENATE PASSAGE OF MILITARY FUNDING FOR MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE IN MONTGOMERY

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) announces U.S. Senate passage of H.R. 2559, the Military Construction Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2004. Included in the bill is significant military funding for Alabama and for Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

The bill includes $13.4 million for construction of Phase III of the SOS Dormitory complex at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. The funds will be used to make necessary infrastructure improvements by adding 162 spaces for recruit housing.

“I’m pleased the Senate passed this important legislation," said Shelby. "These funds represent our continuing commitment to our nation's security and to the men and women who serve our country.”

In total, $54.08 million for Alabama Military Construction projects was included in the Military Construction Appropriations Act.
