SHELBY ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR U.S. SPACE AND ROCKET CENTER IN HUNTSVILLE

WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) announced today that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be providing nearly $1 million* to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville. These funds will be used for equipping the joint NASA/USSRC Education Training Facility (EFT) and for making improvements to the Space and Rocket Center Museum.

These funds will allow the Space and Rocket Center to provide the tools and furnishings necessary to conduct training and professional development activities for various adult education levels to include educators, Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) employees and clients, contractors and others. In addition, these funds will be used for facility upgrades to make improvements to the Space and Rocket Center Museum which will include exhibit updates necessary to highlight the importance of MSFC to space exploration.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce these funds for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center for important education training equipment and museum exhibit improvements. These improvements will allow the Space and Rocket Center to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to highlight the impact that MSFC has had on the space program.”

* Actual amount will total $992,000 due to .08% recission.
