SHELBY ANNOUNCES $75,000 FOR THE CRAIG FIELD AIRPORT AND INDUSTRIAL AUTHORITY

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is awarding a grant of $75,000 for infrastructure improvements for a new manufacturing facility at Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority.

These funds will help to provide 800 linear feet of rail spur for Renosol, and it will upgrade 6,850 linear feet of West Park Boulevard to bring it up to industrial standards. Funds will also go toward the construction of a perimeter road and parking lot for employees and trucks at the Lear building. These improvement are likely to create 300 new jobs at Lear and Renosol, thus helping to reduce the unemployment rate in Dallas County.

Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to make this announcement for the Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority. I believe that it is critical that we continue to stimulate economic development in this region of the state.”

The DRA serves a 240-county/parish area in an eight state region and is designed to remedy severe and chronic economic distress by stimulating economic development and fostering partnerships that will have a positive impact on the region’s economy.
