Washington, D.C. – Recognizing the nomination of Birmingham lawyer, J. Paul Compton, to serve as general counsel at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Alabama Senators Richard Shelby and Luther Strange released the following statements:

“Paul Compton is a notable pick and his experience with affordable housing in Alabama will serve him well as he moves on to a larger stage,” said Shelby. “The Department will undoubtedly benefit from Compton’s knowledge, integrity, and expertise. I look forward to working with him in this highly respected role.”

“The President made a wise choice in naming one of Birmingham’s own to serve in this important role at HUD,” said Strange. “I am confident he will be a valuable addition to Secretary Carson’s team, as they tackle critical issues facing our communities, especially here in Alabama.”
