U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today subcommittee approval of funding requests for several Alabama projects in the VA/HUD and Independent Agencies Appropriations bill.
Sen. Shelby said, "I am very pleased that my colleagues recognized the merits of my funding requests."
The following project requests, were funded by the subcommittee:
Boys and Girls Club of Prattville, Alabama - $100,000
"These funds will assist in the creation of a club for Prattville youths in need of a safe place to go after school," said Shelby.
Alabama Department of Environmental Management for the Alabama Water and Wastewater Training Program - $1 million
"This funding will allow the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to conduct field training for Alabama water and wastewater operators across the state," said Shelby.
Alabama Water Projects
"This funding will go along way in aiding our cities and counties as they deal with their water resource challenges," said Shelby.
Alabama Rural Utilities Authority for remedial on-site and collective wastewater treatment systems in Lowndes County, Alabama - $575,000
"These funds will assist the Alabama Rural Utilities Authority and the community in their efforts to address the very serious public health threats involving failing septic systems and sewage disposal in Lowndes County," said Shelby.
Notasulga Wastewater System in Notasulga, Alabama- $325,000
Autauga County Sewer Infrastructure Construction project - $650,000
