SHELBY ANNOUNCES $3,934,715 FOR THE MARITIME CENTER OF THE GULF

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and General Government, today announced that the Department of Transportation will be releasing $3,934,715 for the Maritime Center of the Gulf. Senator Shelby secured these funds in the fiscal year 2003 appropriations process.

Sen. Shelby said, "I am pleased to announce these funds for the Maritime Center of the Gulf. The project, which is critical to the revitalization of the downtown area, will provide a terminal for a new high-speed ferry and an educational complex, as well as additional space for future commercial development."
