U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National and Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will release $401,447 to Alabama A&M University. This funding will be used to improve the meteorological understanding of weather events occurring in Alabama.
“From deep freezes to droughts, tornadoes and hurricanes, the State of Alabama experiences a wide range of meteorological phenomena,” said Shelby. “For this reason, it is important that we do all we can to learn more about the weather events that occur in our state. This funding will be used to establish additional surface meteorological and agricultural weather measuring stations throughout Alabama.”
