SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $28 MILLION FOR ALABAMA STATE PORT AUTHORITY

WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation will be releasing $28,382,225 to the Alabama State Port Authority in Mobile. These funds will be used for the Alabama State Docks Intermodel Facility Project, and account for funding included in numerous transportation bills from Fiscal Year 2002 through Fiscal Year 2005

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce the release of over $28 million for Alabama State Docks Intermodal Facility Project. The Alabama State Docks have the potential to become one of America's most economically important ports because of the proximity to emerging trade routes on the Gulf of Mexico. These funds will help modernize and prepare the docks to handle increased traffic as well as more freight cargo.”
