Shelby Announces $475,000 for Lanett Fire and EMS

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $475,000 to Lanett Fire and Emergency Management Services (EMS) in Chambers County.  The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

“This funding is critical to ensuring that Alabama’s first responders have the resources necessary to keep our communities safe,” said Shelby.  “These funds will help Lanett Fire and EMS purchase a new vehicle.”

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
