U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $38,855 to Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department in DeKalb County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“This funding will help to ensure that Alabama’s first responders have the resources necessary to keep our communities safe,” said Shelby. “These monies will help Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department improve its operations and safety programs.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
