U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $5,147 to Lincoln Fire and Rescue in Talladega County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“Firefighters are in the field every day protecting our citizens,” said Shelby. “For this reason, we must ensure that our first responders are prepared to respond to any emergency. These monies will help Lincoln Fire and Rescue continue to run its operations and safety program.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide this year.
