U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will invest $1,276,250 in the Albertville Municipal Airport for infrastructure improvements. The airport’s infrastructure is being enhanced and expanded in preparation for Aerospace Integration Corporation’s new Blackhawk helicopter maintenance facility that will be built at the airport.
The 100,000 square foot plant is expected to bring 500 aerospace assembly jobs over the next three years to the Albertville Municipal Airport. This investment supports construction of infrastructure improvements to accommodate the new growth, generating $16.2 million in private investment.
“I am glad the City of Albertville is taking the steps necessary to prepare their infrastructure for the new helicopter facility,” said Shelby. “A strong infrastructure is one of the best ways to attract new business and bring jobs to a community. It is critical that the City has the tools in place to support this important new investment in North Alabama.”
