Shelby: $40 million for Aliceville Federal Prison

U. S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Justice has committed an additional $40 million for the Aliceville Federal Prison.

“This prison will be an economic engine for all of West Alabama, bringing numerous jobs and significant economic development to the area,” said Senator Shelby.  “This continued funding is a sign of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Justice’s commitment towards this project.  I will continue to work to ensure funding for this facility as the appropriations process continues.”

Working with the Department of Justice, Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing these funds this year.  This $40 million is in addition to $15 million that Senator Shelby secured last year.
