Dear Mr. President,

Just this past weekend, nineteen counties in my home state of Alabama were severely damaged as a result of intense storms and an F-2 tornado. I understand that the State of Alabama has requested that you declare the affected counties disaster areas eligible for federal assistance. I urge you to swiftly make this declaration in order to help these hard-hit counties return to normalcy during these already difficult times.

I commend you for your strong leadership and thank you for your assistance in this urgent matter.

Sincerely, Richard Shelby
