U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) will award $200,000 to Bibb County for water system extensions.
“It is essential that the residents of Bibb County have access to a safe and reliable water system,” said Shelby. “Unfortunately, many families in Bibb County are forced to rely on natural springs for their drinking water supply and many of these water sources are contaminated with coliform bacteria. This funding will allow the county to improve its water system to ensure safe drinking water for its residents.”
The water system extension will provide service to 53 households and will enable possible interconnections with other water systems in Bibb and Tuscaloosa Counties.
