SHELBY ANNOUNCES $2.85 MILLION TO BE RELEASED FOR PRYOR FIELD

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Department of Transportation will be releasing $2.85 million for Morgan and Limestone Counties to be used for improvements at Pryor Field. Senator Shelby, Chairman of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, secured this funding in the Omnibus Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2004.

Senator Shelby said, “These funds, which will assist with construction of a terminal building and access road, and provide improvements for the taxiway and runway, will improve the safety and security of Pryor Field. It is an important priority for me that Alabama's airports are given the needed resources so they may remain safe and convenient for the passengers and pilots who use them.”

“I also believe that the expansion and improvement of Pryor Field will lead to continued economic growth in Decatur and the surrounding areas.”
