Washington, D.C. – Monday, June 13, 2016 – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that Dawson Ogletree, son of the Hon. Billy Ogletree and Paige Dawson of Gadsden, Alabama, completed an internship in the Senator’s Washington office this Summer.

While in Washington, Dawson completed legislative research, conducted tours of the U.S. Capitol building, and attended hearings on various important issues.

“The Congressional Internship Program provides students with a truly unique opportunity,” said Senator Shelby.  “The experience gained from first-hand involvement in our nation’s legislative process provides valuable insight into countless topics of study found in the classroom.  I am certain that each of these students will go on to achieve great things.”

Dawson is a rising senior at the University of Alabama where he is majoring in Political Science and minoring in History and Communication Studies.

Senator Shelby’s Congressional Internship Program is open to college students who exhibit an interest in government and public service.
