U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will award $315,375 to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for medical research related to diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic research.
“UAB is one of the premier medical research institutions in the nation,” said Shelby. “This funding will help ensure that the university continues to conduct cutting-edge research on some of the most serious diseases facing Americans today. I am confident that UAB’s research findings will reach far beyond Alabama and help extend and improve the lives of people across our nation.”
