U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $31,920 to the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department in Lauderdale County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“The Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department will use this grant to fund its operations and safety programs,” said Shelby. “First responders serve day in and day out on the front lines of our communities to protect our citizens and it is critical that we provide them with the resources they need to do their jobs.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
