U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $38,760 for the Goodman Volunteer Fire Department in Coffee County. The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“This grant will assist the Goodman Volunteer Fire Department in funding its operations and safety programs,” said Shelby. “It is critical that our nation’s first responders are adequately prepared for any event.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
