SHELBY ANNOUNCES $18.3 MILLION IN HURRICANE RECOVERY FUNDS

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that Alabama will receive $18.3 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation in federal hurricane recovery funds. These funds will be used for the repair or reconstruction of federal-aid highways and roads on federal lands which have suffered serious damage as a result of the natural disaster.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce that Alabama will receive this much deserved funding as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan. These funds will be used to cover the state’s costs to rebuild and repair highways and bridges that serve as a vital lifeline to Alabama residents. These funds are critical for our communities to return to pre-hurricane operation levels following this storm.”
