SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $246,000 FOR THE TEEN SHELTER OF HUNTSVILLE

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Teen Shelter of Huntsville will be receiving $246,917 to help better assist runaway and homeless youth in the Huntsville area. The Tennessee Valley Youth and Family Services (TVYFS) and the Junior League of Huntsville will collaborate to implement this shelter. These funds were secured in the fiscal year 2004 appropriations process.

Sen. Shelby said, “The Huntsville Teen Shelter Project will receive $246,917 to develop a 16 bed dormitory and recreation area for troubled juveniles. Runaway and homeless youth are among the highest “at-risk” groups for delinquency and for victimization by predators. The Shelter will provide a safe place for counseling, comfort, and reconciliation with family.”
