SHELBY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR THE AUBURN UNIVERSITY CANINE DETECTION TRAINING CENTER

Conference Committee Approves Funding–House and Senate Scheduled to Vote Tonight

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding for Auburn University.

At Sen. Shelby's request, the Senate included $1 million for the Auburn University Canine Detection Training Center. The funding will allow Auburn University to develop a curriculum for the training of law enforcement dogs to combat and respond to terrorist activities specifically related to chemical and biological threats.

"Funding for this Center comes at a crucial time," said Shelby. "This money will allow Auburn University to help our nation prepare for what many view as one of the major threats to the United States."
