U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration has awarded $486,250 to the University of Alabama for its Hybrid Electric Vehicle and Fuel Cell Research Program. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.
“Increased science and research into viable fuel alternatives to oil is our best hope for decreasing energy costs,” said Shelby. “This funding will allow the University of Alabama to maintain and improve its comprehensive research program to conduct cutting-edge research and to educate scientists and engineers in this growing industry.”
