Shelby Announces $459,500 for City of Dadeville

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will award $459,500 to the City of Dadeville for water system improvements.

“It is critically important that local communities have the infrastructure necessary to encourage economic growth and attract new businesses,” said Shelby. "Improvements to the Dadeville water system will allow for additional growth at the William Thweat Industrial Park, resulting in more jobs for Alabamians.”

The investment expands the water system in the William Thweat Industrial Park to provide an adequate amount of water to accommodate the expansion of existing businesses and development in the park.  This project is expected to create 270 new jobs and bring $20.9 million in private investment.  In addition to EDA funding, the Appalachian Regional Commission provided $200,000 for the project.
