WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), chairman of the Committee on Appropriations, and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, today released the following statement after meeting with President Donald J. Trump to discuss the FY2019 Homeland Security Appropriations Act:
“We are on the same page as President Trump. Our highest priority is securing the U.S. border. The Senate bill puts a major down payment on the larger efforts underway to pass immigration reform and secure funding for border security.”
The Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee will meet tomorrow to mark up the FY2019 Homeland Security funding measure.
