Shelby Introduces Resolution to Support National Runaway Prevention Month

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), founder and Co-Chairman of the Senate Caucus for Missing, Exploited and Runaway Children and founder of the Financial Coalition to Fight Child Pornography, today introduced a senate resolution to recognize and support November 2009, as National Runaway Prevention Month.  Today, the Senate unanimously passed this resolution.

“Every year, millions of youth run away from home,” said Shelby.  “Many of these children and teens have no access to medical treatment, shelter or basic living needs.  I believe preventing youth from running away and assisting those on the streets should be a national priority. We have a responsibility to protect our most vulnerable citizens: children.”
