SHELBY ANNOUNCES NOMINEE TO UNITED STATES SERVICE ACADEMY

Hartselle Native Receives Nomination to U.S. Air Force Academy

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that Christopher Teal of Hartselle, AL has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy. Senator Shelby nominates students every year to the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Christopher, the son of Ron and Patricia Teal, is a student at Hartselle High School.

Senator Shelby said, “Furthering one’s education at our nation’s service academies is remarkable. Christopher has shown exemplary performance in the classroom and in his extracurricular activities. The selection process for the academies is extremely competitive, and I am pleased that Christopher has been nominated.”

Service academy nominees must be residents of Alabama and must complete the required ACT and SAT exams. Applicants are also required to provide letters of recommendation, their school transcript, completed medical examination, and the required application form.

Although Senator Shelby has made the nomination, the United States Air Force Academy still has final selection.
