SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $100,000 FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, announced today that the Department of Justice today awarded $185,111 for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division’s Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners Program.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce $185,111 for state prisoners’ substance abuse treatment. Jail-based substance abuse programs have been effective in reducing the number of drug related crimes committed by previous offenders.”
