SHELBY ENCOURAGES TVA TO DONATE LAND TO PUBLIC

Senator Meets with TVA Commissioners to Discuss Proprosed Golf Course

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) met with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Commissioners to discuss the proposed donation of TVA land to the public for a Robert Trent Jones golf course.

Senator Shelby encouraged the donation of land to the public so the golf course, along with a hotel, may be created by Retirement Systems of Alabama, who has pledged $40 million for the project. City councils and commissions in Colbert and Lauderdale Counties have voted to support the project.

"The jobs and economic development the project would bring to this area are significant," said Senator Shelby. "The construction of a golf course and hotel will benefit the local communities for many years to come."

Senator Shelby met with the TVA Commissioners today in his Capitol Hill office. The meeting was also attended by Senator Jeff Sessions and Congressman Bud Cramer.
