U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will award $71,213 to Tuskegee University to develop and implement a new course on nuclear power plant safety.
“Tapping into nuclear power is essential to eliminating our energy dependence on foreign sources,” said Shelby. “As the home to nuclear power plants, Alabama is on the forefront of nuclear energy production. As more Alabamians choose to work at these plants, it is critical that we provide the resources necessary to ensure that students that want to pursue careers in the nuclear power industry are educated about the safety measures associated with nuclear power plants.”
