Shelby Announces $38,000 for Adamsville Fire and Rescue Service

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $38,000 to the Adamsville Fire and Rescue Service in Jefferson County.  The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.

“We have a responsibility to ensure that Alabama’s first responders have the tools and training necessary to safely protect our communities,” said Shelby. “The Adamsville Fire and Rescue Service will use this funding for its operations and safety programs.  This grant is evidence of our nation’s continued commitment to our first responders.”

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute over $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
