U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today that Shelby County will receive $547,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration for improvements at Shelby County Airport in Alabaster, AL.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to make this announcement for the Shelby County Airport. These funds will be used to rehabilitate the existing runway to provide a safe and high quality landing surface for the patrons of the airport. I was pleased to play a role in securing these funds so the airport may continue work on its improvement efforts.”

This funding, which was secured in the federal appropriations process, will be administered through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
