SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $62,000 REFORM VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Reform Volunteer Fire Department will receive $62,349 in federal funds to assist with operations and firefighter safety. These funds are available for training and fitness, protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.

These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.

“This is great news for the Reform Volunteer Fire Department. This grant provides critical support for our firefighters and local law enforcement, and I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security is following through on its commitment to our nation’s first responders,” Sen. Shelby said.
