SHELBY ANNOUNCES $215,000 FOR ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice will soon be releasing $215,000 for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

These funds will be used to focus on reducing risks and enhancing protective factors to prevent youth from entering the juvenile justice system. The program offers funding incentives to encourage community leaders to initiate multi-disciplinary assessments of risks and resources unique to their communities. The goal of this Community Prevention program is to support delinquency prevention.

Sen. Shelby said “I am pleased to make this announcement to assist the important work being done by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. These funds will provide incentives for communities to create a comprehensive plan to prevent juvenile delinquency, while encouraging youth to be active in recreational activities, tutoring, mentoring, and leadership development.”
