SHELBY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR MUSCLE SHOALS FERTILIZER CENTER
FY 2006 Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill Passes Subcommittee
WASHINGTON, DC --- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced subcommittee approval today of $4 million in funding for the International Fertilizer Development Center located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. As a member of the Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding. The Foreign Operations Appropriations bill will now go to the full Appropriations Committee for consideration.

Senator Shelby said, “I am very pleased that the subcommittee has once again recognized the merits of this funding request and agreed to provide $4 million to further the work of the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals. In addition to the important research conducted at this facility, the Center employs numerous Muscle Shoals-area residents.”
