Shelby Announces $580,000 for Birmingham International Airport

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $580,000 to the Birmingham International Airport for environmental mitigation.

“As Birmingham International Airport continues to expand, it is critical that the airport take environmental concerns into consideration to ensure that the area remains desirable for residents and businesses,” said Shelby.  “The Birmingham International Airport will use this funding conduct environmental mitigation studies on five properties that the airport may acquire for future expansion.”
