SEN. SHELBY ANNOUNCES RURAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR SPRINGHILL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced an $18,000 grant for the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department.

The funds will be released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program and will be used to purchase a pumper fire truck for the fire department. The project will be supplemented with a $102,000 loan from the Rural Development program at 4.75 percent interest.

"I am proud to announce these funds for the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department," said Shelby.
